After your comfortable stay in Helsinki
you may wish to complete your King’s Road Adventure with
an escorted tour to St. Petersburg. This tour is offered on
selected Monday departures
from April
through December.

FOR THIS TOUR.
An early A. M. departure with
the Finnish train “Sibelius” enjoy
breakfast while traveling through the Finnish countryside over
the border and on to St. Petersburg WITH an early afternoon arrival.
Upon arrival an orientation tour will show you the Bronze Horseman,
the Admiralty, Nevskyi Prospekt and Palace Square. The tour continues
to the very heart of the city founded by Peter the Great. The
Peter and Paul Fortress from the early 1700’s has become
the chief monument to its founders reign. We will have dinner
at a local restaurant with overnight accommodation in the tourist
class Hotel Moskva or similar. The day begins with an excursion
to the Hermitage. The Heritage was established in the year
1764, as Catherine II bought
paintings made famous by Dutch painters today it contains
2,400,000 pieces of art. After lunch served in a local restaurant
a visit
to the Cathedral of St. Isaac designed by a French architect
Auguste Montferrand the third largest Cathedral in the world
and took over 40 years to complete. Dinner and overnight
at the Hotel. In 1708 Peter I gave his wife
Catherine Aleksejevna an estate in the outskirts of the city.
Over the years the Summer
Palace was developed into one of the richest residences in
Europe by the most famous architects and craftsmen of the
time.
After our visit lunch in a local restaurant before returning
to the city for an afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight
accommodation at the hotel.
Your last morning is at
leisure and after lunch at the hotel transfer to the rail station
for an afternoon departure
to Helsinki arriving in the
late
evening where the tour terminates.
