Donald M. Ahlm President and Tour Planner Following his work with the Swedish American line in the 1950's, Don has been owner and operator of Nelson's since 1965. Itinerary planning and travel advice to Scandinavia come second nature to him, as he has 'seen it all' over the past half-century in the travel industry. Don's parents emigrated from Sweden before he was born, but still speaks Swedish with ease. He has been president of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, involved with both the Swedish American Museum and the American Union of Swedish Singers, and has lead tours all over the world.
John W. Lindahl Operations Manager and Tour Planner Even at a young age, John has always been interested in travel. Although he was born into an English speaking Swedish-American family, he has taken the initiative to learn the Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish). In 2005, John lived in Jönköping, Sweden. Currently he is pursuing fluency as he has taken a Swedish night class at nearby North Park University, the same college where John received his Bachelor of Science in International Business and a bachelor of Arts in Scandinavian Studies.
Lena B. Fredrickson Intern
Lena is a third year at North Park University and pursuing degrees in both Art and Scandinavian Studies. Born into a Scandinavian-American family, she has been raised to recite Swedish prayers at the dinner table, make Norwegian lefsa, and seize every opportunity to adventure over to Scandinavia. Lena also lived and studied at the University of Oslo, Norway in the summer of 2009. At Nelson's, she hopes to continue her goal of becoming fluent in the Scandinavian languages, and also applying her knowledge, experience, and passion for her homeland to grow in her understanding of the business and culture.
